WHEN THE SUN GOES DOWN. . .
When the sun goes down and we are confronted with nothing but the details of time…
With truths and all the moments we betrayed and took for granted as though we created life itself!
When the sun goes down and we are struck with the tormenting realities of our thoughts, thoughts of times we cannot change…
Times when we had every opportunity to change the narrative for good but did not.
Times when we could have made strides in fostering love and making great investments in our fellow humans but we chose to invest in things and methods of oppression, deriving joy in other’s miseries and frustrations.
Times we could have been shining examples for posterity, the bearers of light, preaching the gospel of liberation yet, we made empty choices and invested in vanities.
When the sun goes down and the flashes of our score card reminds us of the bad decisions we’ve once made in the fleeting moments of our highs, when pride became an addiction like drugs to a junky, times we thought we’ve got the world under our feet. Times we thought we could run things the way we so damn wish! Times we probably thought we’ve turned gods and have become untouchable.
When the sun goes down and our days are far spent, when the weight of our mistake comes real heavy on our shoulders… Then we will know karma is true and not a myth. When the sun goes down and we wake to an end where death becomes the reality and the pain of our situation totally irreversible.
When the sun goes down and our bodies become frail and helpless; when all we hunger for is just the peace that has evaded our minds, the peace we would have freely found if and only if we had cared, the peace we would have gained from the joys of our little acts of kindness, from selfless deeds and the power of compassion but pride and ego got the best of us.
When the sun goes down and it’s time to sit all alone in the dark, stripped of all virtues, that’s indeed the time we are left with nothing but the voice of our deeds.
