Fatal Accident on Ogun Road Leaves One Dead and Two Injured

Tragedy struck on Wednesday morning around 7:20 am when a multiple-vehicle accident occurred near Iju bridge on the Ota-Idiroko road in Ogun State. Regrettably, one person lost their life in the incident, and two others sustained injuries. Additionally, two of the vehicles involved in the collision ended up in the Iju River.

The vehicles involved in the accident included an IVECO truck with registration number AAA969ZY, a Ford mini truck registered as BDG340XZ, and another Man Diesel truck without a visible registration number.

According to Mrs. Florence Okpe, the spokesperson for the Ogun state sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the injured individuals were promptly transported to Otta General Hospital for medical treatment, while the deceased was taken to the Ifo General Hospital morgue.

The preliminary investigation suggested that a mechanical fault in one of the vehicles was the primary cause of the accident. The FRSC emphasized the importance of regular vehicle maintenance, urging motorists to diligently inspect their vehicles for any faults and address them promptly to prevent accidents.

This tragic incident serves as a solemn reminder of the critical role vehicle maintenance plays in ensuring road safety.
