The FCT Minister Barr. Nysome Wike has said that Guzape A11 village undergoing infrastructural development is to encourage more business opportunities in the city and to decongest and expand the territory, which is getting overcrowded.
Wike gave this clearance on Wednesday when he visited the large expanse of Guzape A11 extension village.
The minister disclosed that the government decided to expand the area for rapid development of the city and to create a place where businesses can thrive.
“ So what we are doing here is to create more opportunities for people to carry out their business opportunities.”
He said that the contract for Guzape 11 was awarded six years ago but it was stalled because of lack of funds, but the present government took it up and awarded the contract to Gilmore Engineering Company because of the need to expand Abuja, create more cities, make people develop and create more infrastructure.
“Remember, Maitama II was awarded more than 10 years ago, and the people who had properties could not have access to their properties. And we felt that we were getting more congested than they did to create infrastructure in Maitama II.”
However, Wike has cleared the air on what happens to the original occupants of the land, as he assured that villagers displaced will be compensated and relocated.
