FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello on Monday performed the groundbreaking ceremony of a 404 unit Staff housing estate to support staff of the FACTA.
The housing scheme which is estimated to cost 1.5 billion naira is a project of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council’s Cooperative Society at Wasa District of the FCT is expected to be completed by 2923.
While performing the ceremony, the minister reiterated the FCTA’s commitment to staff cooperative housing scheme which he noted as one of the greatest desires of every family to own their own house.
He said, ” with the FCTA’s staff strength of over 27,000 you will agree with me that so far many of our compatriots within the staff structure of the FCT would desire to own their own homes.

The minister who noted that the AMMC Cooperative project is in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s agenda of providing housing to Nigerians as a way of bridging the current National housing deficit, commended the initiative which is worthy of emulation by Others.
President of the Cooperative, Engineer Muhammad Hamisu said that the plot measuring 4.2 hectares was allocated in 2015 would contain 404 housing units of 224 flats of 2 bedroom blocks of flats and 68 flats contains of three bedroom terraced.
He revealed that the cooperative is collaborating with the Federal Mortgage Bank and Mutual Alliance Mortgage Bank as major financiers of the project while the Abuja Property Development Company is the project developer.
Hamisu appreciated the minister for granting a waiver on the sum of 9.8 million naira as cost of building plan approval fees while 4.5 million naira has been given as compensation to the indigenes affected by the construction.
Present at the event were the Chief of Staff to the FCT Minister, Malam Bashir Mai-Bornu, Executive Secretary, FCDA Engr Umar Gambo Jibrin, Director of Engineering, FCDA, Acting Coordinator, AMMC, Mallam Muhammed Sulaiman, Acting Coordinator Satellite Town Development Department, (STDD) Engr Felix Nwankwo amongst other senior members of staff of the FCTA.
