In a significant development, the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has intensified its efforts to combat illegal loan apps, resulting in the removal of 37 such apps. This increase in the number of delisted loan apps comes as a response to growing concerns, marking a substantial escalation from the previous nine apps that were taken down.
Furthermore, the FCCPC has provided an updated report, revealing that the number of fully approved loan apps has risen to 164 from 154, as per the latest information available on its website. Meanwhile, the count of loan apps with conditional approval has decreased to 38 from 40, while the number of apps under the commission’s watchlist has surged from 20 to 56.
These actions are part of the FCCPC’s ongoing efforts to bring stability to the digital money lending sector following instances of harassment of Nigerians by certain lenders.
