FG Is Not Committed To The Implementation Of Agreement And Legitimate Demands Of ASUU – Shehi

By Muhammad Ibrahim, Sokoto

The National President of Sokoto State Students forum, Alkasim Isah Garba (Shehi) made this known while Briefing newsmen at Sokoto today.

He said as students, they stand with ASUU for standing up to demand for the implementation of the agreement it entered with the government, thereby acknowledging the sacrifice of the union and its commitment to saving the nation’s education sector from total collapse.

However, as a student of Sokoto state University, Shehi said the governor of Sokoto state Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has made several pronouncements on why the Sokoto State University chapter of the union should see reason and return back to classes as his government has no labour dispute with ASUU on the ongoing national strike undertaken by ASUU.

Shehi, then, acknowledged the sympathy of the state government by approving salaries and allowances for all the categories of employees not only the University but all tertiary institutions.

He said sympathy strike should not be indefinite and that the action of the National body aggravated issues of insecurities, economic hardship, destruction of education facilities due to redundancy, increase the scourge of drugs and substances abuse.

“the most disturbing and annoying thing is that it has rendered youth idle and are available for anybody willing to exploit them both for good and bad purposes”, Shehi averred.
