By James Samuel

Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Governor-Elect of Adamawa state has been issued with a certificate of return.

Kassim Gaidam, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), in charge of Adamawa state issued the Governor-Elect with the certificate at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Yola on Friday.

Meanwhile, the High Court sitting in Yola has dismissed the case filed by Movement of Restoration of Defence for Democracy (MRDD, seeking the court to cancel the Adamawa state Governorship election and order a fresh one.

MRDD had approached the court with the suit, claiming exclusion of its parry’s logo on the ballot Paper as instituted by Rev. Eric Theman.

Justice Abdulaziz Waziri, ruled that The man and MRDD have failed to prove her case, saying “He who asserts must prove”.

In the same vein, Jibrilla Bindow, Governor of Adamawa State has conceded defeat and congratulated Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri who was declared winner of the 2019 Governorship election concluded on Thursday March 28, 2019.

In a state broadcast, a text of which was made available to newsmen, Bindow congratulated Fintiri and wished him a successful term of office.

“In view of the outcome and declaration of the results by INEC, I wish to congratulate the Governor-Elect Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri over his election as the incoming Governor of Adamawa state and wish him successful tenure”.

He furthered that he was commuted to democratic norms that would help strengthened democratic practice in the state and country as a whole.

“As a democrat, I cherish democratic norms and values, as it is practiced in the civilised world”, he said.

Meanwhile, the Governor-Elect, Ahmadu Fintiri, has called on fellow contestants to offer their services to his administration, in order to move the state forward.

At a world press conference to mark his victory, Fintiri assured the people of Adamawa state that he will respect their mandate and be accountable to the people at all times.

Bindow’s congratulatory broadcast has put paid to speculations about challenging Fintiri’s victory at the tribunal.
