The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has inaugurated the National E-Invoicing Solution Inter-Agency Steering Committee as part of a broader initiative to improve tax compliance, transparency, and operational efficiency in Nigeria’s tax system.
The announcement was made via the agency’s official X handle on Tuesday, confirming that the event took place at the FIRS headquarters in Abuja on April 29, 2025.
According to the statement, the inauguration included a detailed presentation of the E-Invoicing Initiative’s roadmap, outlining strategic milestones to ensure a smooth and effective implementation.
FIRS highlighted the importance of inter-agency collaboration, noting that the committee includes key stakeholders such as the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS), Nigeria Customs Service, financial institutions, and taxpayer representatives.
This multi-sectoral approach, FIRS said, reinforces its commitment to using technology and strategic partnerships to drive reforms in Nigeria’s tax administration.
The E-Invoicing system is designed to automate transaction tracking, reduce tax evasion, and promote greater accountability in both public and private sector financial activities.
