The National Ameerah, Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria Hajiya Rafiat Idowu Sani made this known during the 38th annual national conference holding in Sokoto
She said FOMWAN was founded on five thematic areas on October 1985 to serve as mouthpiece on matters that have to do with women and children adding that the thematic areas were eclaved on Da’awah,Education both Islamic and conventional,Health,Humanitarian services and community development and Youths and Women empowerment as well.
According to her, the aim of the briefing is to intimate the world atlarge with what FOMWAN is all about and what programs and activities they have in stock saying the conference is bringing them together to discuss burning issues in the lives of Muslims.
FOMWAN founded over 37 years ago,has been working round the thematic areas through provisions of schools in all the 700 out of 774 LGAs where FOMWAN exist.
Talking of scholarship, they appreciated Sultan Saad Abubakar 111 for sponsoring a girl from southwest to read medicine in in one of the recognized institutions.
“On behalf of the board of trustees headed by the first female deputy governor in Nigeria,the former deputy governor of Lagos state,Alhaja Lateefah Modupeolu Okunnu,the National Executive Council, Zonal Coordinators, states, local government Amirahs and members home and abroad,we are extending our conference to you for your knowledge”.
The conference with the theme, SOCIETAL REORIENTATION is to last four days.
