Force PRO Calls on Nigerians to Report Individuals with Ammunition to Combat Arms Proliferation

Must read

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Police Force Public Relations Officer, has urged Nigerians to report any individuals found in possession of live ammunition to tackle the proliferation of arms in Nigeria. Adejobi shared this message on his official social media account on Sunday, accompanied by a picture of live ammunition commonly known as “èpà” or “groundnuts” in street lingo.

In the statement, Adejobi emphasized, “If you see them with any friend or civilian, please expose him or her. We need to collectively curb the proliferation of arms and ammunition in Nigeria.”

The call for vigilance comes amidst efforts by law enforcement to address the illegal possession of firearms. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, recently paraded 34 suspects involved in crimes such as armed robbery, stealing, cultism, and unlawful possession of firearms. In one month since assuming office, Fayoade highlighted achievements, including the resolution of 14 cases and the recovery of 16 firearms, including a toy pistol, 72 live cartridges, 75 live ammunition, one expended cartridge, and one pistol magazine. Other items recovered included axes, daggers, a digger, cutlasses, vehicles, a POS machine, fake registration plates, and various charms.
