Former Plateau Governor’s Aide Calls for Unity in PDP Amid Internal Rifts

By Israel Adamu, Jos

A media consultant to former Plateau State Governor Jonah Jang, Mr. Clinton Garuba, has reacted to recent reports alleging that Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s inner circle is attempting to wrest control of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structure in the state from the former governor.

The controversy, which has gained traction online, centers on former member of the House of Representatives, Dachung Musa Bagos, who is accused of causing division within the party through his recent political moves.

According to the report, Bagos’s actions have alarmed party stakeholders, many of whom interpret his maneuvers as a direct challenge to Jang’s longstanding influence in the Plateau PDP.

Speaking on Thursday, Garuba dismissed any such plot as doomed to fail. He condemned Bagos’s actions, stating that they undermine Jang’s legacy and threaten party cohesion.

“Bagos’s behavior is disturbing and shows a lack of commitment to the unity of the party,” Garuba said. “It is even more appalling that some of his allies are dragging Jang’s name into the fray.”

Describing the matter as a “family affair,” Garuba expressed confidence that it would be resolved internally through party mechanisms. He also downplayed Bagos’s political strength, stating that he lacks the influence to destabilize the political landscape of Plateau North.

Garuba’s remarks are seen as a call for calm and unity within the PDP, as party members seek to prevent further division ahead of future political engagements.
