Four Killed in Bauchi Alms-Giving Tragedy

Tragedy struck in Bauchi, Bauchi State, as four individuals lost their lives in a stampede during an almsgiving event at Shafa Holdings Company Plc on Jos Road.

The incident occurred around 10:20 am during the company’s annual Zakat exercise aimed at supporting the less privileged in the state.

According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakili, five people were rendered unconscious in the stampede, with four confirmed dead upon arrival at the Abubakar Tafewa Balewa Teaching Hospital Bauchi.

Wakili emphasized the need for caution during charity events involving large crowds, urging organizers to involve law enforcement to manage the situation effectively.

He assured the public that the situation was under control and conveyed condolences to the bereaved families. An investigation has been ordered to determine the circumstances leading to the tragedy.
