By Richard Akintade, Osogbo

Osun state government has announced that it has shifted the commencement of the free train ride to Lagos till tomorrow (Thursday).

The state government in a statement issued by the Ministry of Commerce, Industries and Cooperatives on Wednesday, all arrangements have concluded for the return of the residents of the State who are working in Lagos.

It would be recalled that the government as part of its social protection services provided free train ride to indigenes of the State who are working in Lagos for the purpose of celebrating the Christmas and New Year with their relations in the state.

The train was initially scheduled to return back to Lagos but due to certain logistics, the free ride was rescheduled till Thursday.

The statement however enjoined the people that ride will takes off by 10am on Thursday 3rd 2019 prompt.

The free train tagged: Omoluabi Train’, conveyed people from Iddo Terminus of the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) in Lagos on December 22nd 2018 to Osogbo, Osun State Capital for Christmas celebration and it was bid to return them back to Lagos on January 2, 2019.

Expressing regret the inconveniences this change in time could cause, the government said that the free train gesture was in continuation of the good work started by the immediate past administration in the state.

The statement therefore urged all those willing to travel with the train to make themselves available at designated centres tomorrow saying that the gesture is part of the social intervention services rendered to the people by the state government.

It would be recalled that provision of free train servivCes started on December 2010 in the state and has since been helping the people to celebrate festivities with their relations in the state with ease.

The free train service is also to be provided during other festivities throughout the year.
