Fresh attacks looms as some fully armed suspected Fulani terrorists were sighted at Omala after crossing River Benue from Nasarawa State on their way to attack communities in Omala, Dekina and Bassa in Kogi East Senatorial District.

According to intelligence reports captioned by CAPITAL POST, the source said, their mission is to attack vulnerable communities in Dekina, Bassa and Omala Local Government Councils.

The reports of the terrorists heading toward Kogi State has generated tension in the affected Local Government areas as at Sunday with residents seen discussing what to do.

The source hinted: “A large number of suspected Fulani terrorists have been sighted in Omala after crossing from Nassarawa State via River Benue a few hours ago.
“All villages from Abejukolo, Agbenema, Oganenigu, Ojapata,
have been on the red alert of this crisis.”

“Security agencies should be informed to beef up strategies immediately because the number of terrorists that crossed this evening into Omara close to Ikende is unprecedented.”

It would be recalled that the criminal elements attacked communities of Oganenigu, Edede, Ojapata in Dekina LGA, and Iyade while they were advancing to attack Agbenema in Omala Local Government before the local vigilantes in a counter attack drove them backwards.

The attack on the affected communities left many people dead, houses worth millions of naira burnt.

Some fleeing locals are currently taking refuge in Dekina, Anyigba, Iyale, Abejukolo and other neighbouring villages.
