Gusau Feb. 20, 2020 The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Zamfara Command, says it had concluded plans to embarked on a joint enforcement with the Nigeria Police Force on the abuse of plate number and sirens, with effect from March 4.
The Sector Commander, Wihioka Uchechukwu made the disclosure in an interview with Daybreak on Thursday in Gusau.
The commander noted with concern the increasing number of unregistered vehicles, removal or covering of vehicle number plates and the use of sirens by unauthorised persons.
He also listed the use of expired (Old) number plates by Ex-National Assembly members and trailers conveying unlatched containers as among the command’s areas of concern.
Uchechukwu drew the attention of motorist within and around Zamfara to desist from this unwholesome practices or face the risk of being arrested and prosecuted.
He stated that henceforth a combined force of the NPF and FRSC will commence special operation on violators from March 4.
The Sector commander reiterated that motorists were advised to check the nearest Internal Revenue office for procurement and due registration of vehicles to avoid embarrassments on the road.
