Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has reportedly been left traumatised after armed attackers broke into his home, making away with valuables said to be worth around £500,000.
According to reports, the Fulham F.C. player was held at knifepoint as the assailants forced entry into the property. The robbers allegedly escaped with luxury watches, jewellery, two iPhones, and a MacBook.
Iwobi is also believed to have had approximately £200,000 in cash on him at the time, which was reportedly taken during the incident. Authorities have since launched an investigation into the robbery.
The incident occurred shortly after the 29-year-old featured in Fulham’s 3–1 Premier League victory over Burnley F.C..
Despite the distressing event, Iwobi has recently been recognised for his contributions off the pitch. He was named in the 2025 Football Black List under the “Players Off the Pitch” category alongside Eberechi Eze and Jess Carter.
The initiative, established in 2008, honours Black footballers making meaningful impacts through community service and activism. Iwobi earned the recognition for founding Project 17 in 2021, a programme aimed at empowering underserved Black youth through football training, mentorship, educational workshops, and the annual P17 Cup.
His efforts have also been acknowledged with the Baobab Award in Sport, recognising his positive influence on young people in Nigeria and beyond.
