General Assembly Of Farmers Held At Kano Was Poorly Attended-Farmers

By Jabiru Hassan, Kano.

The recent General Assembly Of Farmers (GAF) held in Kano state last Friday was poorly attended by the farmers despites all efforts being made by the factional AFAN leaders which was referred as a total waste of time and resources.

Most of the farmers that had a chats with our correspondent stated that they were misguided to attend the event at Kano government House in which we blindly attended where at the end we realized that the gathering is a scam and a plan to defraud the innocent farmers under the AFAN factional leadership.

Malam Abubakar Lawan from Dala local government said that ” we found out that the factional leadership only comprised Honourable minister of Agriculture Malam Sabo Nanono, Kano deputy governor Nasiru Gawuna and the factional AFAN President, Farouk Mudi without the attention of farmers from across Nigeria which seems to be a great set back to this year’s GAF.

Similarly another farmer from Ungogo local government area Alhaji Magaji Ahmad discloses that the gathering shows that AFAN was left somewhere because there was no presence of the association’s real leaders and there was no presence of prominent and large scale farmers that were derived from all the 36 states of the federation and the FCT which is a handiwork of few people that uses their mandate to benefits from their plans.

In another development, a group of large scale farmers from Kano, Jigawa, Katsina, Bauchi, Gombe and Adamawa states called on the authentic national president, Architect Kabir Ibrahim to organised a best ever GAF where farmers from all categories be convened and discuss real issues related to Nigerian Agriculture, and commended the Kano state chairman of Alla Farmers Association AFAN, Alhaji Abdulrasheed Magaji Rimin Gado for uniting Kano farmers despites challenges.
