Governor Muhammadu Yahaya of Gombe State has adhered to the constitutional provisions of 60 days by submitting a list of 17 Commissioner-nominees to the state House of Assembly for approval. The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Abubakar Njodi, personally delivered the list to the Assembly’s clerk, Rukaiyatu Jalo, for presentation. The unveiling of the 17 commissioner-nominees took place during the Friday plenary, presided over by Speaker Abubakar Luggerewo.
In the meantime, on July 17, 2023, the report of the 2023 Transition Management Committee, chaired by Dr. Ibrahim Daudu, recommended that the governor should consider reducing the number of ministries.
The comprehensive list comprises professionals from various fields, including health, law, military, academics, and political associates. The nominees are Abdulkadir Mohammed Waziri, Adamu Inuwa Pantami, Barrister Zubairu Umar, Mijinyawa Ardo Tilde, Mohammed Shetima Gadam, Mohammed Gambo Magaji, Asma’u Iganus, Mohammed Saidu Fawu, and Aishatu Umar Maigari.
Additional individuals included in the list are Salihu Baba Alkali, Dr. Habu Dahiru, Alhaji Nasiru Aliyu, Barrnabas Malle, Mai Jama’a Kallamu, Lt. Col. Abdullahi Bello, Sanusi Ahmed Maidala, and Dr. Abdullahi Bappah Garkuwa.
