Good Road Network Attracting Investors to FCT – Wike

… Investors to Replicate Dubai City Walk in Abuja

By Joyce Remi-Babayeju

The FCT Minister, Barr,Nysome Wike, has said that the good road network in Abuja is attracting foreign investors and development to the territory.
Wike made this known on Friday in Abuja at the flag-off of the Transit Way N2 linking the central area with Wuse District along two strategic bridges.

He noted that Abuja is becoming a modern city with good road networks that attract foreign investors and investments.

“We have said severally, and we will continue to say, there’s no development in any city without a good network of roads. When all the cities are linked with a good network of roads, then you talk about that city becoming a modern city.”
The FCT Minister cited how infrastructural development and good roads in the nation’s capital have attracted some foreign investors from Dubai willing to build “Abuja City Walk in the territory.

“We have one of our investors from Dubai, who, of course, is trying to build “Abuja City Walk”. If the infrastructures are not there, they won’t come. But because they saw the infrastructure revolution in Abuja, they said, “We are going to replicate the Dubai City Walk, in what we will have as “Abuja City Walk”, he cited.

Wike further disclosed that part of the ongoing infrastructural revolution in the capital city encompasses rehabilitation of schools and health facilities.

“We will start again total rehabilitation of not less than 40 schools . That, of course, will add to no less than 70 ongoing schools. Almost 45 have been completed and well finished. And then I said again, We will begin to look into the issue of health.”

He warned that those working with him should be ready to work, adding there is no time for laziness.

The Minister of State for FCT Mariya Mahmoud said that the Transit Way (N2) will connect the Central Area with Wuse District, alongside two strategic bridges.
The project, when completed, will strengthen connectivity, ease traffic congestion, and promote seamless movement within the Federal Capital Territory, she stated.
