Governor Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto State has presented the 2025 Appropriation Bill, totaling **N526,882,142,484.39**, to the State Legislature. Tagged the “Transformation and Infrastructural Sustainability Budget,” it prioritizes developmental projects for the coming year.
According to the governor’s Press Secretary, Abubakar Bawa, the budget allocates N349.39 billion for capital expenditure and N176.30 billion for recurrent expenditure.
Governor Aliyu reiterated his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development in line with its **Nine-Point Smart Agenda. He highlighted numerous people-oriented projects executed during the year, including:
– Security: Procurement of over 130 patrol vehicles for security agencies and the establishment of a Community Guard Corps, equipped with 40 patrol vehicles, 700 motorcycles, and office accommodations at both state and local government levels.
– Urban Renewal: Construction and asphalting of over 30 township roads, with 40 additional road projects nearing completion.
– Housing: Construction of 1,000 housing units in Gidan Salanke and Wajake, and the purchase of 137 Federal Government-built units in the Kwannawa area.
The Governor emphasized the promotion of Islamic values through various initiatives, including:
– Construction and renovation of mosques, installation of boreholes, carpets, and solar systems.
– Introduction of monthly cash allocations to 87 Juma’at Mosques, amounting to N32 million.
– Provision of food and cash assistance to Imams, their deputies, muazzins, grassroots preachers, and Islamic scholars.
– Reintroduction of the State Hisbah Board, equipped with vehicles and offices to combat moral and social vices.
Governor Aliyu assured residents of his administration’s dedication to enhancing the state’s development and appealed for their continued support.
He also praised the harmonious relationship between the executive and legislative branches, which he said has been instrumental in achieving the administration’s goals.
“Together, we can make Sokoto better,” the governor concluded.
