Gov. Lalong assures NLTP team of security

Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau has assured members of the National Livestock Transformation Plan(NLTP) of security during their Programme implementation in the state.

Lalong gave the assurance during the team’s courtesy visit to the governor in Jos.

He said the state steering committee for the progamme included operation Rainbow, a homegrown security outfit, comprising security agencies, neighborhood watch, community volunteers, religious and traditional leaders, who would ensure its safety in the discharge of its duties.

He said he was not discouraged when the plan had previous challenges in the state, saying no good thing came without such hassles.

The governor said the state was committed to recovering lands encroached in the state, saying the perpetrators were trying to frustrate and sabotage government efforts at bringing succor to Plateau people.

Lalong said he was committed to making the state conducive for investors to shore up development, saying Plateau had unique products.

The leader of the delegation, Prof. Andrew Kwasari, said the visit was to intimate the governor with the efforts of committee to validate and accelerate the process toward implementing NLTP in the state.

Kwasari said that the team was in Plateau to validate data generated and evaluate the level of preparedness of the programme, saying it would sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the take-off of implementing the local dairy development advancement project, which was being implemented in five states.

He said the MOU would be among Plateau government, Sahel Company and Integrated Diaries Ltd, to ensure the programme was implemented as designed.

“A total of $15BN has been earmarked for this project in five states including Plateau, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation,”he said.

The MOU was signed with Plateau govt shortly after the courtesy visit. (NAN)
