Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara state said his adminstration will review the recent appointments of Permanent Secretaries to ascertain the process and criteria followed in the exercise.
He said it is evident that the preceding administration had at it’s concluding moments of its exit from office, made some rushy appointments of Permanent Secretaries with no consideration for the civil service rules and regulations.
Matawalle laments that as a result of this improper appointments, his government is now over stretched with about fifty Permanent Secretaries, most of whom are misplaced as they are not even attached to relevant ministries, but are to serve as heads of tertiary institutions where they should adopt proper nomenclature such as the provost, Rector, or Principal.
He disclosed that the verification of the appointment will immediately begin next week, stressing that, any detected irregularity will be nullified, while such appointment will be reversed.
The governor said relevant committees will also be constituted for ministries and departments to investigate other irregularities with a view to reversing the decaying state of civil service in the state.
