Gov. Tambuwal Urged PMB To Continue Empower Military And Other Security Agencies In The Country

The governor made the plea today evening at the opening ceremony of the Second Commanding Officer Workshop 2022, organised by the Nigerian Army, held today at Lt. Gen. Tukur Yusuf Buratai auditorium, Giginya Barracks, Sokoto

The theme of the workshop is: “Equipment Maintenance and Operational Efficiency: The Role of Operational and Tactical Level Commanders in the Nigerian Army As Well As Sister Services Through Inter-Agency Cooperation.”

According to Tambuwal, enabling the army will not only boost soldiers morale for effective service delivery, but also enhance inter-agency relationship, which is fundamental in their quest and drive towards establishment of peace in the country.

Tambuwal added that the Nigerian Army need more equipment, training and retraining on how to maintain it, stating that maintenance is key in every human endeavor, especially when it comes to equipment, as complex as important as the one the soldiers and security operatives use.

On the relationship between the army and the state government, the governor explained that it is robust, and; just like it is with all other security services in the state .

“The officers of the army in Sokoto are committed to their duty. They are doing their best on the reestablishment of peace and stability in Sokoto state, with very close collaboration with other services in the state,” he added

He commended the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) for initiating the workshop, assuring that his administration will to continue to support the Army and other security agencies that are working towards maintaining the peace and stability in the state.

Tambuwal also commended him for working to tackle insecurity nationwide, especially his locating of units at Isa and Sifawa areas of Sokoto state, both of which will go a long way in assisting to maintain security in the state.

In his remarks, the COAS, Lt General Faruk Yahaya said the workshop, a follow-up on the first, which was held in the 2 Division, Nigerian Army, Ibadan, Oyo state, is, a routine, aimed at developing the capabilities of the commanding officer and junior commanders in order for them to operate more effectively and efficiently.

According to him, apart from other challenges, the notable ones that guided the initiative of the conference were inadequate and intermittent training, both of which has affected the successful conduct of military operation in the country.

In his address, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammmad Sa’ad Abubakar commended the COAS for organising the workshop, saying that it will boost the morale of the personnel towards effective service delivery.

He said the importance of the workshop hinges on the coming together of the operational commanders and various units under one roof to discuss and exchange ideas on the challenges confronting them.
