Governments Pained With Brutality Of #EndSARS Protest- Minister

‘SARS’ created in 1992 was aimed at dealing with mutating crime patterns at the time crime occurrences became more sophisticated and rampant, tackling armed robbery and other violent criminalities were the specific brief for the unit.
Briefing newsmen on the violent protest of #ENDSARS,the Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi said some personnel’s of the unit desecrated ideals of SARS, trampled on professionalism, unacceptable conducts and brought dishonor, disrepute and odium to the entire police.
“Government is deeply pained by reports of brutality by some personnels of the defunct Special Anti Robbery Squad and will do all that is required to secure justice for victims and reel out punishments for policemen found culpable of violating citizens’ rights to serve as deterrent to others”, he asserted.
The Minister further said the voice of the protesting citizens in parts of the country have been heard by governments at all levels adding that the famous #END SARS and other demands code named 5 for 5 have been acceded to by President Buhari for dull implementation, to the extent that Buhari personally directed the disbandment of SARS being the first of its kind Nigeria.
In order not to give leverage to perpetrators of armed robbery and other violent criminals in the nation, he asserted, it become imperative to set upa professional outfit, code named, Special Weapon And Tactical Team (SWAT)  to replace  SARS saying shortlisted  officers  into this unit have commenced training  at Police Mobile Training  at Ila-Oregun in Pain state, Ende Hills in Nasarawa  state and Counter Terrorism School and Norwa in Rivers state.
Directed by President Buhari, the 36 state governors and FCT should constitute judicial panels of inquiry in their various states to interface  with other stakeholders  in treating  all cases of Human Rights violations  by defunct  SARS personnel.
