Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has directed a forensic audit into the finances of Lobi Stars Football Club, amid ongoing concerns about unpaid salaries to players and officials. The directive was announced during a visit from the club’s new Technical Adviser, Daniel Amokachi, at the Government House in Makurdi.
In a statement issued by the club’s media team, Governor Alia expressed concern over complaints about salary delays, despite the state government’s significant financial commitments to the club. He emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in the club’s financial management.
The governor praised Amokachi, a former Super Eagles star, for his illustrious football career and urged him to leverage his expertise to drive Lobi Stars FC forward. “Your wealth of experience will be instrumental in revitalizing the club and ensuring its success,” Alia said.
In response, Amokachi underscored the importance of promptly paying players’ salaries, highlighting that it motivates better performance on the field. He also expressed gratitude to the governor and the people of Benue State for their warm reception.
Lobi Stars FC Chairman, Dr. Phillip Nongu, who accompanied Amokachi, stated that they were at the Government House to formally introduce the new Technical Adviser to the governor.
