Grant Joshua Dariye Presidential pardon – Northern Groups tells Buhari

Northern group under the guise of Northern Coalition Group (NCG), has strongly called on President Muhammadu Buhari to grant Presidential pardon to the former Governor of plateau State, Mr Joshua Dariye, in the interest of peace and harmony.

The Coalition also known as Movement for a New Arewa, observed that if people like chief Joshua Dariye who has been in prison since the inception of the present administration are released to joined in the peace building process, the North will returned to it’s past glory.

The Group, also known as the Movement For A New Arewa, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to, “in his usual magnanimity, extend presidential pardon to former Plateau State Governor Joshua Dariye for the interest of peace.


Led by its National President Mal. Abdulkareem Bayero and it’s National Secretary Alhaji Abdullahi Musa among other national officers, the group which made call while addressing members of the Press in its Abuja Head office on Wednesday 8th September 2021, stressed the need for Chief Dariye to breath an air of freedom as citizen of the country.


The body in a statement made available to our correspondent Wednesday stated that “lf the north is to be returned to its past glory then the likes of His Excellency, Joshua Dariye must be released from prison to joined in the peace building process.


The national officers of the group disclosed that the coalition is dogged in its commitment to establishing New North where trust, friendship, mutual respect, unity.
“Where the different ethnic groups would co-habit again peacefully in the spirit of one north as preached, demonstrated, lived and died for by our founding fathers the Sarduanas, Tafawa Balewas, Sunday Awoniyis, Gowon, Joseph Tarkas among others.

Mal Adulkareem Bayero said Peace “can only be achievable, if the broken and burnt bridges, of friendship, brotherhood and a healing process by all those who have been hurt, injured and aggrieved, among the various ethnic nationalities the likes of Hausa Fulani,Tiv, Birom Gbagyi and others, comes together in a round table to discuss the way forward and towards finding a lasting solution to addressing prevailing insecurity that had destroyed the north.


“We must strive by all means to foster and forge unity and peace towards achieving a united north and by extension a united Nigerian as a people.

The President continued further that “we are all aware that insecurity has no respect for religion, ethnic group or region, therefore to avoid the disintegration of our country which has been deeply divided and polarised along religion and ethnic lines.


“Our group remains resolute in our commitment to building and cementing a virile north through promoting peace, unity, religion tolerance and inter-ethnic harmony which the north is known for.


In their conclusion, the group used the fora to commend the “C-in-C President Muhammadu Buhari, Minister of Defence, National Security Adviser, Service Chiefs for their new approach taking toward the war against the Bandits.


“This renewed zeal by our military is no doubt yielding results in Zamfara”, the my said, calling for the extension of it to all the 19 northern states to annihilate the bandits, kidnappers and all criminal elements, saying “They must be addressed in the language they understands.
