Suspected bandits have killed two residents and abducted 12 others during an overnight attack on Angwan Gwari in the Tudun Wada area of Kujama, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, according to a local resident.The нападение reportedly occurred between midnight and 2 a.m. on Sunday, sending residents fleeing as gunshots were heard across the community.
Sule Adams, an internally displaced person living in nearby Maraban Rido, told reporters that the assailants stormed the Unguwan Gorah Joseph axis of Tudun Wada Gabas, carrying out the attack before retreating. Adams said seven of those abducted are members of the same family.
He identified the victims as Mercy Jonathan, Peace Jonathan, Bartholomew Jonathan, Bethel Jonathan, Steven Jonathan, Jonathan Bulus, Nation Jonathan, Jacob Jonathan, Joy Silas, Destiny Silas, Candy Thomas and Saviour Emmanuel.He also named the two deceased residents as Ayuba Barau and Mary Augustine.
The motive for the attack remains unclear. As of the time of filing this report, the Kaduna State Police Command had not issued an official statement.There were unverified reports from residents alleging further violence later in the day. However, authorities have yet to confirm those claims.
Residents have called for increased security patrols and improved intelligence gathering to prevent further attacks.
