Heartbreaking News: Nollywood Icon, Mr. Ibu, Reportedly Passes Away

In a devastating turn of events, beloved Nollywood actor, Mr. Ibu, has reportedly succumbed to his prolonged battle with health issues after several months of medical struggles.

The distressing news began circulating on social media platforms, sparked by a viral WhatsApp conversation wherein a healthcare worker purportedly disclosed Mr. Ibu’s passing. The worker, claiming affiliation with Evercare Hospital where the actor had been receiving treatment, conveyed the somber update to a friend.

Recall that as early as October last year, reports surfaced detailing Mr. Ibu’s medical challenges, including undergoing multiple surgeries and facing the imminent threat of further medical procedures. The actor, known off-screen as John Okafor, had earlier appealed to the public for financial assistance, fearing the loss of his legs without prompt intervention.

Despite his resilient spirit, Mr. Ibu’s health continued to deteriorate, leading to the amputation of one of his legs in November 2023. Throughout his ordeal, the 62-year-old actor remained a source of inspiration, documented in various videos showcasing his courageous battle against adversity.

However, amidst his recovery journey, misconceptions arose, particularly in December 2023, suggesting both of Mr. Ibu’s legs had been amputated—a notion promptly dispelled by his family. Clarifying the situation, they revealed that only one leg had undergone amputation, attributing his health struggles to blood clotting issues rather than diabetes, as previously speculated.

As news of Mr. Ibu’s reported demise reverberates, his family is yet to issue an official statement on social media. Nevertheless, heartfelt prayers and condolences pour in for the grieving family during this challenging time.
