From Abba Kabara,

The state high court sitting in Gusau tge Zamfara state capital has confirmed the validity of Zamfara state APC primaries for both legislative and executive candidates.

The state leadership of the APC had last October filed a suit praying the court to compel the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) to accept the authenticity of the results of primaries conducted by the state leadership of the party last October.

The state APC was also praying the court to stop the National leadership of the party from submitting to INEC , any list of candidates other than the one officially submitted by the Zamfara state leadership of the party.

It also asked the court to force both the leadership of the party and the INEC to accept the list of candidates submitted by the state leadership of the party.

And also that the court should order the APC national leadership to publish in major Newspapers, list of candidates submitted by the State chapter of the party as required.

In his judgement today, the presiding Judge Justice Muhammad Bello Shinkafi, after over two hours of reading his judgement, granted the applicants and prayers with a submission that in view of the proceedings, the said primaries were actually held based on available evidence.

The defence counsel for the plaintiff, Barrister Sirajo Garba who briefed the press after the judgement, said the defense counsels have failed to forward convincing ground and acceptable witnesses to prove their claim beyond reasonable doubt.

The state APC chairman Hon. Lawal Muhammad M. Liman who also talked to the press after the judgement, expresses satisfaction with the verdict and enjoined all APC supporters in the state to remain patient, loyal and obedient to the party and remain alert for the kick off of campaign activities.
