Hospital Management Board Investment Society Holds AGM

The Hospital Management Board Investment Society has held its 2022 Annual General Meeting at the Investment House behind Zenith Bank in Amarata, Yenagoa.

The Special Guest of Honour, Director Bayelsa State Cooperative Bureau, Barr.Sese in his opening remarks said the Hospital Management Board Investment Society rank among the three biggest cooperative societies in the state.

He noted that continuity is key for the growth of any organization adding that there is need to have people of integrity to manage cooperative societies.

He commended the Hospital Management Board Investment Society Executives for effectively managing the affairs of the organization

The AGM moved motion for the adoption of continuity of the current Management Team for another two years and was unanimously carried.

In his welcome address, President of the Hospital Manage Board Investment Society, Mr. Abeki Enizedie listed the achievements of the Management Team to include, 68 registered members loans and other disbursement for 2022 fiscal year, 428 part savings withdrawal of 126, complete withdrawal for 30, 39 retirees, refunds and over deductions for 139 and payment of 99% dividends to cooperators for 2022.

He stated that 1% unpaid dividends was due to incorrect account details which was added to their savings.

Other achievements according to Mr. Abeki Enizedie are construction of one story 650 capacity event center in Amarata, continuous maintenance of good financial records, stabilizing the society, creating tremendous harmonious working relationship among exco members and positive response from MDAs to debt recovery letters.

The President listed some of the challenges facing the Cooperative Society as insufficient funds to respond to large volume of loans, disruption of training programme due to the Naira redesign programme, regular auditing of accounts among others.

Mr. Abeki Enizedie thanked God for his grace to keep the Cooperative afloat and also expressed gratitude to the Bayelsa State Bureau of Cooperative Development Finance Agency LTD, Bayelsa State Cooperative Federation of Nigeria and other members for their contributions that have strengthened the society.

Speaking to Journalists at the sideline of the AGM, the Chief Medical Director of Bayelsa State Hospital Management Board, Dr. Doubra Doukumo said membership of the Cooperative is open to every Bayelsa State Government worker .

He commended the Management Team of the Cooperative for the transparent manner they have run the society as evident in its solvency adding that the resolution passed by members for the present exco to continue in office is for the best interest of the society.

A raffle draw was conducted as part of the AGM and members, mostly women won several items ranging from electric and gas cookers, pressing irons, blenders, microwaves, home theater, lunch boxes.

An official from Polaris Bank delivered a lecture titled “How To Make And Invest Money” said the bank want to partner with the Cooperative Society to give cooperators credit cards to withdraw Five Thousand Naira and above noting that there will be no charges if paid within 45 days.
