How angry youths stone, burnt Buhari, El-Rufai billboard in Zaria

The stoning and burning of billboards wearing of Nigeria President, Muhammadu Buhari and Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state has taken over the social media space.

President Muhammadu Buhari and Mallam Nasir El-Rufai’s billboard were on Friday January 2022 stoned and set ablaze by teenage irrate youths in Zaria City area of Kaduna State North-West Nigeria.

In a viral video, the furry and aggressive looking youths in their large number openly stoned and burnt into ashes, the large billboard bearing President Buhari’s photograph, that of Governor Nasir El-Rufai and one other person.

The incident occurred while the duo were in Zaria City for the Commissioning of some projects executed by Governor Nasir El-Rufai administration.

The youth who sang in Hausa language chanted ” Ba’mayi, Ba’mayi* later bounced on the billboard, tore it into pieces and burnt it down after some minutes of stoning.

Similarly, a convoy was also on Thursday openly stoned and harassed by youths suspected to be in Kaduna north who gathered alongside the popular Ali Akilu road in Kaduna state also during the president’s working visit to the state.

The incident occurred when the convoy of the President, El-Rufai and his entourage were suspectedly heading towards Kawo for the commissioning of the Kawo flyover bridge.

The youth, also in their large number openly shouting the presidential convoy continuously in Hausa language, in a viral video saying “Ba’maso, Ba’maso” along with the convoy heading towards Kawo.

The video of the incident which also went viral, conspicuously shows the youth publicly shouting and waving away, the president convoy in anger continuously.

Our correspondent gathered that the president convoy also went to Zaria the next day, Friday, by air apparently to avoid same youths embarrassment and harassment in like manner.

It was also reliably gathered that president Buhari and his entourage arrived Kaduna , his state of residence, late on Wednesday night also to avoid been harassed by the aggressive youth of Kaduna state.

Recall that the president was in Kaduna on two days working visit where he commissioned various projects executed by Governor El-Rufai under the urban renewal infrastructural development projects in the three senatorial zones of the state.
