HOW HERBAL TREATMENT KILLED MAN IN CALABAR

By Joseph ETTA in Calabar

A middle-aged man, identified simply as Mr Etuma, who hails from Abia state, has died in Calabar after using native herbs to pump his stomach over low sperm count challenge.

Reports say the late Etuma, who died inside a vehicle while waiting for his CT scan results at Arubah Specialist Hospital, Calabar, was living at Ediba Qua Town in Calabar Municipality.

A source closed to the family disclosed that the victim, who was the only son of his parent, had battled constipation for days after pumping his stomach with herbs prescribed by an unidentified woman who is now at large.

a source told Daybreak that, Etuma was battling low sperm count problem since he married his second wife. His first wife died about 3 years ago after giving birth to his first son she slumped and was confirmed dead at the hospital few weeks after giving birth through Cesarean Section (CS).

according to the source, “the man has been unable to remarry. But as God has it for him, he finally got married last year.
After that, he started having low sperm count and that generated a lot of issues with the new wife. He was advised by the family who stays in the same compound with him to consult a herbal doctor for remedy. He sure did and was given a particular unidentified leaf to use. He used it and was pumping through his anus with a Fly-Rite Stomach Pump but things started going wrong as he was unable to stool for four days. When the problem persisted, they had to rush him to the hospital where he was advised to run a scan it was while waiting for the scan result which was taking too long, that he was asked by his family to go and rest in the car since he was already feeling uncomfortable, only for them to find out after that he was dead. It’s quite a painful and avoidable death. I am just pitying his 3-year-old child who is now an orphan”.

Daybreak learnt that the man has sinced been buried in his home town in Abia State.
