I supports LG Autonomy 100 percent -Gov Ortom

By Isaac Kertyo Makurdi

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, has  said his administration supported Local Government Autonomy 100 percent to ensure speedy development in the rural areas.     “I was the first Governor to support local government autonomy in the country”.

Ortom who made his position known  when the national leadership of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE)  conferred an award on him at the government house Makurdi.

The Governor promised to implement the salary increment for Benue workers when funds improve.   He encouraged local government workers in Nigeria to look outside the box by creating other ways of survival to avert  imminent economic meltdown as warned by the International Monitoring Funds (lMF).

Ortom admonished them to key into the Federal Government’s agricultural value chain to ensure availability of  food in Nigeria.

The Governor warned local government staff against stealing local government funds, pointing out that he will not defend anybody who finds himself in that kind of situation when EFCC operatives are after him.    He lauded NULGE for the honor done him.

Earlier, the  National President of NULGE Alh Lambo said the union honored the Governor with an award as life patron of the union due to his track record of achievements as well as key appointments he gave to  members of the union.
