IADI partners NAGGW, pledges commitment to addressing environmental challenges

A foremost Civil Society Organisation, identified as Integrity Advocacy Development initiative, has expressed commitment to support government efforts towards effectively addressing environmental challenges in the country.

The Converner and Executive Director of the organization, Comrade Christopher Ofomhi, stated this during a roundtable engagement in collaboration with the National Agency for the Great Green Wall, NAGGW, held in Abuja on Wednesday.

Speaking on the theme of the event ” The Importance of Natural Resources Management in the Economic Development of Nigeria: the role of NAGGW, Comrade Ufomhi explained that his organisation alongside other CSOs, are fully committed to developing a partnership that would implement framework to reverse the ugly trend of climate change in the country.

The Director General,National Agency for the Great Green Wall, Dr. Yusuf Bukar represented by the Deputy Director Planning, Policy and Coordination Dr. Alenyi Onu, promised effective collaboration of his agency with major CSOs in championing its core mandate towards ensuring implementation the Great Green Wall initiative in Nigeria in order to combat the effects of climate change and desertification in the country.

Also, two resource persons present at the event,Comrade Jacob Okpanachi and Comrade Dominic Ogakwu while stressing the importance of forestry to national economy and food security, expressed concern over the negative destruction of the nation’s forests which has led to desertification, erosion, flooding and other environmental challenges.
