The workshop with the theme Emerging Technology, Exploring Artificial Intelligence in Journalism was aimed at enriching Journalists with modern trend of Journalism.
Speaking at the ceremony, the council Chairman, Usman Muhammad Binji appreciated partnership with the Open University as it build and freshen skills of individuals through enrolling in programmes that are of great importance to oneself and the society.
He said another aim was to keep journalists abreast of modern systems of writing news items adding that the workshop serves as a display of knowledge as it encompasses virtual and physical activities.
The first paper that covers the theme of the workshop presented by the Vice Chancellor of the ICONIC Open University Dr. Shadi Sabeh extolled care of identifying bias news, Leveraging YouTube channels, Utilizing Social Media Platforms, Best Practices for Digital Literacy, Challenges and Opportunities among others.
Another speaker from the state Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy Dr. Nasir Daniya spoke on Digital Journalism and Countermeasures that explained the Importance of Ethical Practice, Innovation and Collaboration” Empowering Journalists and the Public in the Digital Age, Digital Journalism in Nigeria-Navigating Complex Issues among others.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor explained that the University have lecturers in UK, Malaysia, USA and other countries across the world who are always online to deliver lectures.
He Usman Danfodio University established since 1950 has only 30,000 students while ICONIC Open University running third semester has 5,000 enrolled students.
