Illegal Refinery Operation Busted in Abia: Four Suspects Apprehended

The Abia State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has successfully arrested four individuals engaged in operating an illegal refinery within the state. The suspects were paraded at the site of the clandestine refinery by the State Commandant, Usman Alfadarai.

Alfadarai highlighted the significance of the arrests, characterizing them as a substantial advancement in the ongoing battle against various forms of vandalism, especially concerning critical national assets, infrastructure, illegal petroleum product dealings, and economic sabotage against Nigeria.

The commandant explained that the apprehension followed 48 hours of continuous surveillance conducted within and around Obiakpu, Obuzo-Asa, located in the Ukwa West area of Abia State. Emphasizing the urgency of the operation, he conveyed a strong message to potential vandals, affirming that the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps would not allow any room for individuals compromising the nation’s economic interests to operate freely within the state.

“This move, which comes barely one week after I took over as the Abia State commandant, is a strong statement to the vandals to either turn a new leaf or relocate from the state, as the corps will not give any inch of respite to the enemies of the Nigerian economy to operate,” stated Alfadarai.
