Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has returned to Calabar after a three-week annual leave, declaring that he is back with “renewed vigour and a double dose of energy” to fast-track the state’s development.
Speaking on Thursday at the Margaret Ekpo International Airport, where he was welcomed by supporters and top government officials, the Governor reaffirmed his commitment to delivering on his administration’s transformation agenda. He described the break as a period of reflection and rejuvenation.
“I missed you all, and I return stronger, clearer, and more determined. We have a manifesto to fulfil, and by our second year in office, some of those promises are already taking shape,” Otu said.
He noted that the foundational work laid by his administration is now beginning to yield results, comparing it to planting seeds now ready for nurturing toward a bountiful harvest.
Governor Otu also announced the arrival of key federal projects in the state, including the much-anticipated Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone initiative, which he described as game-changers for the state’s economy.
He revealed that Cross River will soon host high-profile dignitaries, including the President of the African Development Bank and Nigeria’s Vice President, for the groundbreaking of a new Export Processing Economic Zone.
“This will be a turning point for Cross River. It will open doors to jobs, investments, and inclusive growth. Everyone will have the opportunity to be part of this economic revival,” the Governor stated.
He concluded with optimism, saying, “The sky is the limit for Cross River State. We are ready to rise, and we will rise together.”
