Independent Hajj Reporters (IHR) has announced that its Annual Post-Hajj Lecture and Recognition Event will take place on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the National Mosque Auditorium in Abuja. The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
This year’s lecture is themed “For the Interest of Pilgrims: Nigeria and the Quest for Best Hajj Operational Practices.” It is being supported by the Jigawa State Government under Governor Umar Namadi.
Vice President Kashim Shettima will serve as Special Guest of Honour, while Dr. Yusuf Adebayo Ibrahim, National Deputy President of the Ansarudeen Society of Nigeria and a veteran in Hajj affairs, will chair the occasion.
The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Shehu Usman Muhammed, a Hajj affairs expert and former Kaduna State Commissioner of Education.
Other dignitaries expected at the gathering include Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency Faisal Bin Ebraheem Alghamdi, who will attend as Guest of Honour; Ustaz Abubakr Siddeeq Muhammad, MD/CEO of Comerel Travels and Tours, who will speak as Guest Speaker; and Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, Chairman/CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), who will serve as Chief Host.
According to the organizers, the lecture offers a platform for stakeholders to reflect on lessons from the 2025 Hajj, exchange best practices, and chart pathways for more efficient, pilgrim-centered Hajj operations in Nigeria.
