INEC Begins Defense of Tinubu’s Election, Falters in Presenting Witness.

INEC Commences Defense of Tinubu’s Election, Fails to Present Witnesses

During the session at the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPEC) in Abuja on Monday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) initiated its defense of the presidential election held on February 25. However, INEC did not present any witnesses during the proceedings.

Abubakar Balarabe Mahmud, SAN, the lead counsel for INEC, informed the court of their intention to summon three witnesses to refute the allegations made by the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Gregory Obi.
He, however, lamented that none of the witnesses was in court due to domestic reasons for him to open the defence.

The senior lawyer pleaded with the Court to bear with him and thereafter applied for adjournment of his defense.

However, lead counsel to Peter Obi, Dr Livy Uzuoku, SAN, expressed shock and surprise with the conduct of the electoral body.
