Insecurity: Gov Ortom Urges IGP to Recruit more Police Officers to curb crime

Disturbed by the upsurge in criminal activities in the country, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has enjoined the Inspector-General of Police to recruit more Police Officers to reduce crime.

The Governor who made this call on Monday when he paid a condolence visit to the former Commissioner of Police in Benue State, Mr Abel Aganya at his residence in Makurdi over the killing of his wife, Mrs Aganya by gunmen on Sunday.

According to the Governor, the recruitment of more Policemen in the country is necessary due to an increase in population and criminal activities for faster growth of the nation.

Ortom who condemned the gruesome murder of Mrs Aganya by criminals described the deceased as a kind hearted woman, noting that she had no issues with people while she was alive.

He called on security operatives to step up surveillance to checkmate activities of men of the underworld in the state.

Earlier in his remarks, the former Commissioner of Police in Benue State, Mr Abel Aganya described the killing of his wife as devastating. He corroborated Governor Ortom’s call on the Federal Government to recruit more Police Officers to reduce crime.
