Iyabo Ojo Responds to Critics, Sets Conditions for Mohbad’s Wife Regarding DNA Test

By Daniel Edu

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has strongly criticized those pressuring Omowunmi, the widow of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, known as Mohbad, to undergo a DNA test to confirm her son’s paternity.

Following allegations from self-proclaimed investigative journalist Kemi Olunloyo that Mohbad’s son may belong to Lagos socialite Sam Larry, some Nigerians have continued to urge the singer’s wife to carry out a DNA test on their five-month-old child.

A Nigerian businessman, Larry Omodia, recently pledged to contribute N10 million to support Mohbad’s widow in conducting the DNA test if she agrees.

Responding through her Instagram account, Iyabo Ojo argued that the calls for a DNA test were diverting attention from the pursuit of justice for the late Mohbad. She emphasized that the public does not have the authority to demand a DNA test, stressing that Mohbad had never expressed doubts about the child’s paternity.

The actress cautioned critics to refrain from bullying Omowunmi and asserted that a DNA test would only be conducted if the law enforcement officials investigating the death deemed it necessary.

She stated, “All these distractions about a DNA test, please allow Mohbad’s family to grieve. If Mohbad’s parents wish to pursue a DNA test, they have the right to request it. It is not our place to instruct them to do so. Mohbad never indicated that his son was not his. However, if the authorities handling his case deem a DNA test necessary, they will proceed with it. Let’s be more considerate, please. Why are some people harassing this poor lady, Mohbad’s wife? Give her some peace.”
