Joint Efforts, Speaking Out, Panacea to Rising Rape Cases Sexual Abuses – Activist

The Executive Director, Challenged Parenthood Initiatives, (CPI) Eunice Agbogun on Sunday in Lokoja identified a collaborative efforts and speaking out against rape and other forms of sexual violence by Nigerians as the Panacea to the current monster in the society.

Agbogun who made the observation at Christian Evangelical Fellowship of Nigeria, (CEFN) Zonal Headquarters Church, Lokoja while delivering lecture on “prevention of Child abuse in Christian homes” said the way to check all forms of child abuses is when people speak out.

The Executive Director at the Men Fellowship forum of the church, said the greatest threat to Preventing sexual abuses in the society is the Culture of silence and called on the men to always speak out instead of harbouring information.

She said the perpetrators of violent abuses against women and children were able to get away with it due to the Cultural background and beliefs of Family Members, friends and the society shielding them.

She described victims of sexual abuses in the society as people who rely on trusted persons, urged parents to always pay attention and support to victims of sexual abuses. “I want to Commend the CEFN church for the bold Initiatives aimed at educating and sensitizing men on preventing child abuse in Christian homes.”

She therefore enjoined parents keeping quiet against sexual abuses to have a rethink and stresses the need for a joint efforts towards fishing out the perpetrators to face the punishment.

Agbogun who expressed satisfaction over the passage of time VAPP BILL by the Kogi State House of Assembly noted that when the bill is accented to by the state governor, all these cases of rape, violent against women and violent Extremism in the society will be reduced to a minimal level.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the men Fellowship of CEFN Zonal Headquarters Church, Lokoja, Mr. Noah Ocheni (JP) said the Initiatives to organise the sensitization lecture stems from the rising rate of rape and other forms of child abuses in the society.

He added that the sensitization meeting is a proactive measures towards protecting the church, educating men on the early warning signs and how to look out for ways of preventing such abuses and other social vices.

The Chairman therefore thanked the Executive Director of CPI, Agbogun for advocating towards Curbing the menace of various forms of child abuse and violent against women.

“I am optimistic that more educative programmes like this would be organised for members of the church by this NGO in no distance time to sustain the zeal and determination of the church to eradicate these vices.” He added.
