JUST IN: I’ll report judge who stopped Sanusi’s reinstatement from US – Kano gov

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, announced on Friday his intention to report Justice Mohammed Liman of the Federal High Court for allegedly issuing an order from the United States to halt the reinstatement of Sanusi Lamido as the 16th Emir of Kano.

Governor Yusuf said he would bring the matter to the attention of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.

Justice Liman granted the order in response to an application by Aminu Babba Dan Agundi, the Sarkin Dawaki Babba of the Kano Emirate. The order aimed to prevent the Kano State Government from enforcing the Kano State Emirate Council Repeal Law, which had dethroned all five Emirs in the state.

Reacting to the court order after issuing the reinstatement letter to Lamido at Africa House, Kano State Government House, Yusuf stated, “The person that issued the court order was in America, yet he is ordering us to stop what we are doing. This issue of abuse must be presented before the Governors’ Forum so we can address it accordingly.

“We are agents of due process, which is why we conducted our actions openly and transparently. Those responsible for upholding the rule of law must adhere to it as well.”
