The kidnapped paramount ruler of Gindiri town of Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, Charles Mato Dakat, has regained freedom.

The Spokesman of the State Police Command, ASP Ubah Gabriel, confirmed the release of the abductee to Daily Trust on Friday.

Dakat was abducted in the early hours of Sunday.

One of his family members had narrated how gunmen gained access into the traditional ruler’s compound after demolishing part of the fence of the house and destroying the window to his room.

His abductors had earlier demanded N500million ransom but it is unclear if the gunmen collected any amount before releasing him.
