The Kaduna State Government (KADSG) has issued a final warning to former governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, accusing him of plotting to destabilize the state through “provocation, manipulation, and falsehood.”
In a statement signed by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Suleiman Shuaibu, the government said it would no longer tolerate actions capable of returning Kaduna to its violent past.
“El-Rufai’s recent actions are not mere political posturing; they are direct threats to the peace, unity, and development of the state,” the statement read. “This government will not fold its arms and allow a discredited former leader, who left the state in ruins, to ignite chaos and plunge Kaduna into another era of ethno-religious tension, insecurity, and economic stagnation.”
The government alleged that El-Rufai intensified his “plots” after his political allies suffered heavy defeats in the August 16 bye-elections, and accused him of convening a “chaotic and violent” meeting on August 30 aimed at inciting unrest.
It also faulted his recent claim on national television that the Tinubu administration and Kaduna State government were paying bandits, describing the allegation as “baseless, malicious lies” already debunked by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
According to the statement, Kaduna under Governor Uba Sani has recorded significant gains in security through both military operations and community-led peace efforts. The government noted that notorious bandit leaders had been neutralized, while formerly volatile areas were experiencing relative calm.
Beyond security, the government highlighted progress in healthcare, education, infrastructure, and financial inclusion, insisting that the state was moving forward under inclusive leadership.
It accused El-Rufai of leaving behind “a legacy of division, exclusion, and fear,” and warned that any attempt to destabilize the state would be met with the full weight of the law.
“No individual, no matter how highly placed, will be allowed to destabilize Kaduna State. The peace of the state is non-negotiable, and anyone who threatens it will be held accountable,” Shuaibu warned.
The statement concluded by calling on residents to reject El-Rufai’s “message of hate” and support the government’s efforts to entrench peace, unity, and development.
