Kaduna Electric Center Conducts Customer Complaints Meeting To Resolve Issues Between Providers And Consumers

Despite myriads of challenges faced by Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission it still moves ahead to organise customer complaints resolution meeting with stakeholders from Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.

During the brief opening ceremony at Dankani Guest Palace Hotel, Sokoto, the Commissioner Consumer Affairs, Hajiya Aisha Mahmud said. she is in Sokoto to listen to complaints and grievances against electricity suppliers and to make sure all the arising issues are resolved accordingly.

The Nigerian Electricity as an independent regulatory commission established in 2005 to monitor and regulate the activities of the electricity industry, the Commissioner said, they are also tasked with the responsibility of protecting the interest of the consumers and mandated to be fair in the discharge of their duties.

While discussing about licenses,she said they were here to educate consumers and enlighten the public in their capacity as regulators through presentations. The second reason for their visit was to make sure that outstanding issues are resolved within the three days they would be in Sokoto.
In his welcome and opening comment, the Kaduna Electric Center Managing Director Engineer Yusuf Usman Yahaya expressed appreciation on how high the regulatory body places their consumers with regard where he discussed thoroughly on the issues of current relationship between the suppliers and the consumers. He then talked about the bilateral contract between them and service providers.
Two papers were presented by the Kaduna Electric office and Nigerian Electric Regulatory Commission.
