Kaduna: Frontal Group Set Up Probe C’ttee, Accused Gov Sani Agency of Vandal, Demolition

By Achadu Gabriel, Kaduna

The Tudun Wada Forum Response Team has formed a five-member committee to investigate the alleged vandalism and demolition of the home of Malam Nuradeen Muhammad, Vice Principal Academic of GSS Rafinguza, Kaduna North LGA. The demolition, carried out by the Kaduna State Urban Planning Development Authority (KASUPDA), reportedly occurred despite an ongoing court case concerning the property.

In a press release signed by the Forum’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Auwal Khalid, the group accused KASUPDA and its Director General, Abdulrahman Yahaya, of executing the demolition under questionable circumstances. The Forum also implicated Haruna Sale Kargi, a former commissioner, alleging that he instigated and financed the operation.

Committee Mandate and Objectives
The Forum’s chairman, Ismail Yusuf, announced that the committee, led by Ibrahim Muhammad Bello with Bello Muhammad as secretary, has until February 18, 2025, to complete its findings. Other committee members include Auwal Khalid, Ibrahim Funtuwa, and Abdullahi Usman.

The committee is tasked with gathering information from all involved parties and will submit a report aimed at ensuring justice for both sides. Following the report, the Forum plans to seek an audience with Governor Uba Sani to present their findings and advocate for action.

Calls for Accountability
The Tudun Wada Forum described the incident as a scandal that has tarnished the reputation of Governor Sani’s administration and traumatized Malam Muhammad and his family, including his 14 children. The group emphasized the potential for widespread backlash across the state if the matter is not addressed promptly.

“We urge the governor to act upon the committee’s findings and restrain KASUPDA from engaging in such unjust actions,” the statement read. The Forum reaffirmed its commitment to defending the rights of Tudun Wada citizens, emphasizing, “We will not sit idly by while our people are being wronged by vested interests, including government officials.”

Background of the Incident
According to the Forum, the demolition took place on Saturday, when KASUPDA staff and over 40 armed Kaduna State Vigilante Service (KADVS) personnel stormed Muhammad’s residence. They allegedly removed the roofing sheets and destroyed property on the orders of DG Abdulrahman Yahaya.

Despite a pending court case, the operation proceeded, leaving Muhammad’s family devastated. The Forum stressed that this incident has triggered outrage within the Kaduna community, further undermining trust in state institutions.

The committee’s findings are expected to shed light on the motivations behind the demolition and determine whether legal action should be pursued against those responsible.
