Kaduna state police command said it has arrested over 580 suspected criminals on various offenses between December 31, 2024, to date, the command disclosed this at press conference on Tuesday.
Those arrested suspects includes 20 kidnappers suspects, 320 suspected phone snatchers, 32 suspected armed robbers, 5 Car thieves,13 motorcycle snatchers,
10 suspects involved in rape cases and 23 receivers of stolen goods, respectfully.
Briefing journalists, the Commissioner of Police kaduna.state, CP Muhammad Rabiu said the command
rescued of over 30 kidnapped victims, who have since been reunited with their families.
He said the command also recovered stolen properties and illegal weapons, including, 34 stolen motorcycles, 10 stolen motor vehicles,1 submachine gun, 4 AK-47 Rifles, 2 Pistols, 28 rounds of live ammunition with 5 magazines, 52 rustled cows, 4 Sledge Hammers and 20 Bags of Dried leaves suspected to be weeds.
HIghlight of few of the major achievement, according to CP includes arrest of two notorious kidnapped informant respectfully.
*On February 10, 2025, officers from the Gadar Gayan Outpost based on credible intelligence, tracked down and arrested two suspects namely, Inusa Ibrahim (18) and Hamisu Musa (18), both of Kangimin Gobirawa Village who were caught making phone calls to suspected bandits, providing them with names of individuals targeted for kidnapping in their village.
“During the course of the investigation, the suspects confessed to the crime and are currently in custody as further inquiries continue”, he said.
Others includes arrest of 2 notorious motorcycle snatchers used hammer to demobilized, assassinate their victims and their reci and recovery of five motorcycles.
“On 15th January 2025, acting on credible intelligence regarding the activities of a criminal syndicate who specialized in motorcycle theft. Officers from the Anti-Car Theft Section mobilized to Mando area, where they apprehended two suspects, identified as Ibrahim Abubakar and Surakatu Usman.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in multiple motorcycle snatching incidents. Their modus operandi involved attacking victims with a sledgehammer to render them unconscious or strangling them with a cable wire before fleeing with their motorcycles.
“Further investigations led to the arrest of their receiver, Yahya Muhammad, who they take the motorcycles to for the sale. Three TVS motorcycles were recovered from the suspects”, he stated.
“On 19th January 2025, Acting on credible intelligence about some notorious criminal receivers, officers swiftly mobilized to Rigasa, where they arrested Ibrahim Nura, aka Danturawa, and Musa Abdullahi, aka Depot.
“During the operation, police recovered twelve motorcycles of various types and three tricycles from the suspects. Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to being criminal receivers, admitting that they collaborate with a network of thieves (Currently at large) who steal motorcycles and tricycles from innocent citizens.
“These stolen vehicles are then delivered to the suspects for sale. Investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the syndicate”, he added.
He continue that “On 23rd January 2025, acting on credible intelligence about the activities of a notorious car thief. Officers from Anti car theft section swiftly mobilized and Arrested One Abubakar in Water Suit Hotel Mando, Kaduna, where he was found hiding and Toyota Yaris motor vehicle, suspected to be stolen, was recovered from him.
“During interrogation, he confessed to being a serial car thief who has been in and out of prison multiple times for similar offenses. He further admitted that the Toyota Yaris in his possession was stolen from Kano. The suspect remains in police custody and will be charged to court upon the completion of preliminary investigations”, he said.
“On 2nd February 2025, Acting on credible intelligence regarding the movement of armed bandits in Kajuru area, security operatives Led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kajuru Division and military personnel advanced into the bush near Doka Village in Kajuru Local Government Area (LGA), where they encountered with a gang of armed bandits trying to relocate with their victims to Kajuru Forest.
“During the confrontation, security forces engaged the bandits, forcing them to flee with Gun wounds, which resulted to the rescue of twenty-three kidnapped victims, who had earlier been reported being kidnapped in Kauru LGA.
“On 20thJanuary, 2025, acting based on intelligence report; about the suspicious movement of one truck along Zaria-Kaduna express way. On receipt of the information, a team from the anti-kidnapping unit was dispatched to the scene and arrested one Abdullahi Shehu of Unguwan Turaki, Ikara, Oneyeachama Francis and Muhammad Sani all of Abuja.
“During the search of the vehicle 40 bags of dried leaves strongly suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered”, he added.
CP statement reads: “The robbery took place along Zaria – Kano road on 9th January 2025 at about 0200hrs, a group of seven (7) notorious armed robbers attacked a vehicle and carted away property valued about seven million (N7,000,000:00).
The Police in a swift action trailed and arrested three (3) out of the four (4) suspects namely – Rabiu Abdullahi (gang leader), Yau Adamu (a.k.a Bagobiri) and Abdullahi Ibrahim. During interrogation the suspects voluntarily confessed to the crime and exhibits worth thirty-five million naira was recovered from them.
“On 23rd December, 2024 at about 1800hrs one Nuhu Garba (aka mosquito), one Hussaini Aminu and one Hussaini Ahmed were arrested by Operation Fushin Kada Tracking and Response Team, following intelligence, that the suspects are specialized in stealing money from innocent citizens by following their victims to banks with a view to dispossessing them for money (popularly known as booth openers).
“During investigation the suspects confessed and stated that they been into the crime for over eight (8) years.
“On 3rd January, 2025 at about 1400hrs Operation Fushin Kada Tracking and Response Team, acted on following report made by one Ahmad Usman Ishaku of No.4 Rimi Drive Unguwan Rimi Kaduna that on the same date at about 1300hrs, he parked and locked his KIA Motor vehicle along Yahaya road, Kaduna to observe Friday Prayers but after the prayers, he discovered that the said vehicle has been stolen by some unknown person(s).
“Upon receipt of the report, Policemen swiftly acted and arrested the following suspects (1) Abdulkadir sherrif (aka Dan’sherrif( (2). Mohammed Basir Ali (3), Mohammed Ahmad (4), Mohammed Mukhtar Abdulkari and recovered the said stolen vehicle.
“During investigation, the suspects confessed to series of crimes.
These successes were made possible through the relentless efforts of our officers and men, the cooperation of well-meaning residents, and the support of security stakeholders across the state”, he stated.
The CP therefore warned criminal elements that Kaduna State is no longer a safe haven for criminals, saying police will continue to strengthen their intelligence network, improve response capabilities, and collaborate with sister security agencies to dismantle all criminal syndicates.
“Furthermore, I urge the citizens of Kaduna to remain law-abiding and to support the police by providing timely and credible information. Security is a collective responsibility, and together, we can build a safer and more peaceful Kaduna State.
“Once again, I thank the Inspector General of Police for his confidence in me and my team. I also want to appreciate the people’s Governor His Excellency Senator Uba Sani for his continues logistics and moral support to the Command”, he said.
