The Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA) has issued a warning to seven Local Government Area (LGA) communities about the risk of imminent flooding, urging residents, particularly those living along waterways, to relocate to safer, higher ground.
Dr. Usman Mazadu, the Executive Secretary of KADSEMA, announced the precautionary measures following recent torrential rains that have persisted over the past two days and are expected to continue. The heavy rainfall is anticipated to cause river overflows, potentially leading to widespread flooding in vulnerable areas.
The affected communities and their recommended evacuation sites include:
– Kaduna North LGA: Government Secondary School Abubakar Kigo Road, LEA Primary School Unguwan Rimi
– Kaduna South LGA: Namadi Sambo Skill Acquisition Centre T/Wada, LEA Primary School Nassarawa
– Chikun LGA: Government Secondary School Romi, Government Secondary School Narayi
– Igabi LGA: Jumaat Mosque Hayin Malam Bello
– Sanga LGA: LEA Agwom Primary School, LEA Tsauni Primary School, LEA Sanga Village Primary School
– Kagarko LGA: LEA Jere North Primary School, LEA Jere South Primary School
– Jema’a LGA: Government Secondary School Kafanchan
Residents in these areas are advised to stay vigilant, prepare for possible evacuation, and seek higher ground to ensure their safety. KADSEMA’s proactive measures are aimed at mitigating the impact of potential flooding and safeguarding lives and property.
