Kaduna Warns LGs of Impending Floods, Urges Residents to Relocate

The Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA) has issued a warning to communities in seven Local Government Areas (LGAs) that are at risk of flooding. Residents, especially those living along waterways, have been advised to relocate to safer, higher ground as the rainy season reaches its peak.

Dr. Usman Mazadu, the Executive Secretary of KADSEMA, released a statement on Monday urging immediate action. He highlighted the continuous heavy rainfall experienced recently, which has raised concerns about potential river overflows.

Mazadu emphasized that communities near rivers and tributaries are particularly vulnerable to flooding. He urged these communities to remain vigilant and prepare for possible evacuations to safer areas.

He specifically mentioned the following locations within the affected LGAs:

– Kaduna North LGA: Government Secondary School Abubakar Kigo Road and LEA Primary School Unguwan Rimi.
– Kaduna South LGA: Namadi Sambo Skill Acquisition Centre T/Wada Kaduna and LEA Primary School Nassarawa.
– Chikun LGA: Government Secondary School Romi and Government Secondary School Narayi.
– Igabi LGA: Jumaat Mosque Hayin Malam Bello.
– Sanga LGA: LEA Agwom Primary School, LEA Tsauni Primary School, and LEA Sanga Village Primary School.
– Kagarko LGA: LEA Jere North Primary School and LEA Jere South Primary School.
– Jema’a LGA: Government Secondary School Kafanchan.

Dr. Mazadu urged all residents in these areas to take the warning seriously and relocate to avoid potential harm from the anticipated flooding.
